The battle belongs to You

Nothing can stand against the power of our God.

On the eve of my 50th birthday, I’m reminded of what finally got me out of my almost week-long mental funk this morning.

After dropping my daughter off at school and heading to work, a song I’ve heard many times came on my radio at the very moment that my heart and mind were open and ready to receive it in a way I hadn’t before.

The song, Phil Wickham’s “Battle Belongs,” was exactly what I needed at a kind of a dark time for me. We’ve all had those moments, right? The feeling of fading away from joy, even if only for a few hours or a day, can snowball into something darker, something longer-term.
